George Simpson has served as lead counsel in hundreds of lawsuits in the state and federal courts of North Carolina, representing clients in a wide array of matters that have included insurance coverage disputes, insurance defense, regulatory compliance matters, and subrogation claims. Prior to founding his own firm in 2013, George learned his craft as an associate, and then as a partner, at one of the largest firms in North Carolina. Over his 19 year career, George has tried more than 50 cases to verdict. In addition to his experience at the trial court level, George has appeared on behalf of clients at the appellate level in the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. George’s professional experience and skill has earned him Martindale-Hubbell’s highest “AV” peer-review rating.
Outside the courtroom, George has been actively engaged in a number of bar and professional organizations. He currently serves on the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys' Board of Directors, following past appointments as Chair of that organization's Legislative Committee and Amicus Curiae Committee. He has also served on the North Carolina Bar Association's Bench-Bar Committee and Tort Reform Task Force, as well as the Wake County Bar Association's Bench-Bar Committee. George has published articles in tort and insurance trade journals, and he regularly gives presentations on various tort and insurance matters at the local, state, and national level. In addition, he has been active in Defense Research Institute (DRI) and Claims and Litigation Management (CLM).
When he's away from the legal world, George enjoys spending his free time following UNC athletics, listening to bluegrass music, and traveling to the North Carolina mountains and the South Carolina beach with his wife, Kate, and their two little boys, ages 7 and 5.
