After beginning her legal career working in the Wilmington office of a statewide insurance defense firm, Ann spent six years working as in-house counsel for a liability insurance provider, where she oversaw outside defense counsel and helped manage litigation strategy and legal budgets. Having years of experience both actively litigating claims in a private law firm setting and in managing litigation in-house for a liability coverage provider, Ann knows that whether the client wishes to resolve a claim quickly or wishes to litigate a matter all the way through the appellate courts, it is incumbent upon the attorney to execute good judgment based on knowledge, expertise, preparation, and amicable working relationships with other members of the community, profession, and judiciary.
Ann's practice includes insurance coverage disputes and defending lawsuits against public and private entities, including insurance companies, when clients are faced with liability claims for automobile accidents, losses under homeowners and commercial general liability insurance policies, breach of contract actions, bad faith, unfair and deceptive trade practices, construction defects, products liability, medical malpractice, and subrogation claims.
In her free time, Ann serves on the Bylaws and Professionalism committees of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Lawyer Support Committee of the Wake County Bar Association. Ann's non-legal activities include all things Tar Heel, the Carolina Panthers, hiking, kayaking, traveling, doing home improvement projects, and spending time with her family and her dog, Ruffin.
